Cravings....
I've officially made it to my 6th month without blowing up like a whale! I have taken on some new names from Cam, such as Teletubby, chubby - all in good fun though. I'm even planning to go to whatever Halloween event as a Teletubby - when else would I get to show off a natural belly in a costume! hahah.
Cravings are known to happen to women during pregnancy, so thought I'd share the foods that I've been happily overdosing on:
Blueberries: For at least 3 months, I was having a pint of blueberries every day. Kirsten and Sue at work watched in amazement as I brought in the daily pint to eat. Thank goodness blueberries were often on sale at various grocery stores, and were large and juicy. I hope Nicholas doesn't turn out to be a blue smurf!
Cherries: They were irresistible in June/July. I believe I overloaded as it made me constipated!! eeks. Not good for pregnancy. They were delicious though - especially the ones from Washington.
Dairy Milk Chocolate Fruit & Nut Bar: Ok - this is something I have to have EVERY SINGLE DAY! I can't even think about it, or else I run to my fridge for my daily dose. Thank goodness I have self control and eat 3-6 squares a day and not a whole bar. I am well stocked though, as Shoppers Drug Mart had a great sale this week. I also discovered their mint flavor - yummy!
Popcorn: Wednesday nights have been my movies nights for the past 2 months, so I've gotten used to eating a small bag of low salt popcorn every single night. Sometimes if Cam digs in, I'll do a second one. I've mastered the microwave technique for the Orvil Redenbacker kind!
Sushi - non fish: I am allllways craving sushi - pregnant or not -- but since the pregnancy, it's been even worse. Since I have cut down on certain foods because of my eczeman like gluten, dairy, eggs - asian food has been my savior. I wish I could have my own sushi chef to make me my daily portions, but for now, I resort to any sushi I can find around! I can't wait for T&T to open up on Riverside/Hunt Club!
That's about it for now - I did overdose earlier in the pregnancy by eating brussel sprouts almost every day, but now I can't stand them. I couldn't get enough of them and then one day, I was completely turned off.
Aside from cravings, there are foods that don't appeal anymore. The sight of raw chicken in the fridge grosssed me out. Ironically, I had no problems about looking for chicken hearts at various grocery stores at one point. Maybe it just depends on the day. Pregnancy eating definitely is a whole different experience though!
