Halloween with Nicholas in the Belly



Halloween was especially fun this year with a party to go to!! I've been so excited for Kirsten & Tony's party for weeks. I ended up having a busy week, so had many ideas in my mind about what I was going to dress up as, but Friday came and I rummaged through my closet and found a dress I had purchased one size too big a few years ago and tried it on, just for the heck of it! Surprisingly, it fit right over the belly! I even tried my famous gold dress on to see, since it's fit me for over 16 years, but the belly was too big for it. After doing a quick google search for 'pregnant women costumes', I saw that they were selling devil outfits online and thought - BINGO!

So, here are some pics of my devil outfit with my husband, pimp-cowboy with red hat partner in crime. Cam loooved his outfit and the cane. He even handed out candy at the end of our driveway dressed up like a 'cowboy' for the kids. I wouldn't dare introduce them to the word 'pimp' at such a young age! One kid even asked where Cam's horse was.

The party was a blast - I was put on watch as I was overindulging in the yummy Avocado dip that Kirsten's friend made. Kirsten and Tony were fantastic hosts - the party guests had a blast and I couldn't stop giggling at all the great outfits!

Growing Baby

This week, we confirmed that all the milk he's been drinking has resulted in Nicholas weighing in at 10 pounds, 2 ounces. I think that he's also grown a few inches as well. That's harder to measure as he's quite squirmy and loves to kick. He also has begun to baby talk - making small babbles when he's happy and lying on his back. It's amazing what a few weeks growth can mean in baby terms. He's also able to lift his head up when we carry him around, and he's often mesmerized by the world around him. The biggest development is his ability to sleep at night with a 12 am, 3 am and 8 am feeding. The feedings aren't too long, so I've been able to catch up on  my sleep. I keep the room dark so that he eats and knocks right out after he finishes rather than being wide awake. We also went for our first walk together alone in the neighborhood. Final Countdown - 7 days till due date

We're almost at the finish mark and Nicholas is still relaxing inside. I think he's quite comfy in my belly, enjoying the warmth and good food that I feed him everyday. Cam made some amazing pancakes this morning and we just finished some delicious beef stew for dinner.  Belly at 39 weeks This weekend was definitely all about nesting - after having two weeks off from work, I finally got cracking on getting the apartment cleaned and his clothes organized. We initially moved all the stuff in the 3rd bedroom to the hallway to make way for the nursery and it's been there ever since. My goal this week is to completely clear it out so that we're completely done. We did manage to get another Ikea bookshelf setup to add more space and I vacuumed like mad. 21 Weeks!

Baby planning is definitely a lot different than wedding planning. The baby is here forever, where a wedding takes place on one day and then it's over. With 3 weeks until our anniversary, I was feeling sad tonight that it is coming up so soon as I had such a good time with friends and family. I'm glad that baby planning is occupying me daily to keep me busy. At 22 weeks, we've managed this week to pick up a crib and find a doula . I was finally able to make it to Kiddytown last week to check out the cribs. The decision was simple as the crib I chose was the right price, included a mattress and doesn't require any additional pieces to turn it into all the other bed options when Nicholas grows. Doula Search Done I also completed my interviews of 3 doulas and have picked one that I think will do a great job for us. They were all extremely nice, gentle and friendly woman.
